Welcome to Adoptipedia!
As the community of adoptive families grows through domestic and intercountry adoption (almost 70,000 each year!), many families have found a need for services which can help them overcome the challenges that are unique to adoptive families. Culture, race and age are just some of the issues all adoptive families face. Many families are also challenged by medical, mental health and behaviorial issues.
There are many services available to adoptive families, but there has not been a place where families could find all of the services available to their familiy. Until now! As our community of users and contributors grows, Adoptipedia will become a centralized, comprehensive and up-to-date listing of Post-Adoption Services and issues of importance to adoptive families.
Based on TWiki, Adoptipedia is a website used and written by you! With Adoptipedia you can search for Post-Adoption Services such as counselors, medical clinics or information on Post-Adoption Issues. Or you can help expand the information on Adoptipedia by adding content and resources.
Adding information is the most dynamic and exciting part of Adoptipedia! By allowing you to add information on Post-Adoption Service Providers like doctors or support groups, the information in Adoptipedia will grow and grow! And unlike many lists of Service Providers, the information will stay current and accurate. So if you are an adoptive family and have a have a Service Provider that you have found useful, please add their information to Adoptipedia. If you are a Post-Adoption Professional, feel free to add some information about you and how you can help adoptive families.
